What WHYL can and can't see.

The short version: WHYL needs to know that you're waiting and roughly how long — not what you asked. Your prompts and the AI's answers stay in your browser unless you separately choose to share them.

WHYL can seeWHYL can't see
That a wait is happening on ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini — the AI's "thinking" state, nothing more. Your prompt text. It never leaves your browser by default.
Roughly how long the wait runs, so sponsored content can fit inside it and close the instant it ends. The AI's answer. Not read, not stored, not sent.
Prompt length — a bucketed size estimate computed locally in your browser. Your other tabs, your browsing history, your bookmarks — WHYL runs only on the three supported AI sites and nowhere else.
Whether the page is visible while an ad plays — visible playback is what advertisers pay for. Your keystrokes, mouse position, or anything you type anywhere — no keylogging, ever.
Your account basics: name, email, and your WHYL balance. Raw IP addresses and device IDs — the server stores only keyed HMAC hashes for fraud prevention.
If you fill out the optional survey: your age range, status, country, and interests — used as aggregate targeting segments for advertisers. Your identity is never attached to those segments — advertisers see segments, not you.

The one exception, in the open

There's a separate, optional conversation-data consent — off by default for rewards and never required to earn. If you accept it, raw prompt and AI response text are shared to improve wait prediction and reliability. You can turn it off anytime, delete what's been collected, and it's retained for no more than one year. Declining changes nothing about your rewards.
